As for consoles...
You know, I wouldn't call Neverwinter Nights or Heroes of Might and Magic multi-platform games. Not at all.
Yes, you cited MGS as an example, but that's exactly what I meant, along with some other projects, like games about Dante, as console hits.
But there will never be console versions of Heroes of Might and Magic. There will never be a console version of Fallout. We don't play Gordon Freeman on the NES or Game Boy; no one is capable of porting System Shock; consoles will never defile Warcraft.
They simply have nowhere to develop. And they have nothing to offer besides arcade-style fighting games and RPGs with adventures and a third-person perspective...
Although, no. Console development is evident – the Nintendo Wii! Now that's a true innovation!
