Were you running around the map without monsters?
Is it on day 2 or 3 that the guild appears in the town, and on day 5, two heroes are in the boat near the outer tavern?

I got the Wyverns almost immediately, around 12 hours in, and I still had 15 wolves left, but I couldn't defeat the dragons. My army was: 12 Wyverns, 15 Wolves, 50 Halberdiers. I probably didn't replay enough. I gave up and, after 45 minutes, dug up a Diplomat and took the Elves... I lost a week...(((

I also tried to take the Wyvern Lair in a rough playthrough.
On the fourth day, you can even make it to the boat: I had 5 Flies left alive, so it didn't work out, but it was close.
Also, on the fourth day, you might not make it to the boat: through the Fairy House, hire Orcs in the outer dwelling, get experience from chests, Temple, in short, I had 15 Wolf Riders left without much trouble, but I had to spend the night in the Wyvern Lair.
But that's a waste of time, even if you get into the boat. I realized it in time.
