I decided to play through the scenario featuring Argyl in Heroes of Might and Magic IV to clarify some points. Unfortunately, everything is explained in detail, so there's not much room for debate. In a conversation with a Chaos witch, it's mentioned that Argyl is a devoted Chaos demon worshiper in his past. There's also a strange moment where it seems that Biara is aware of this as well; she says something like, "I won't tell you my name so you don't mess with him." Regarding the demons' deliberations, here's an example from an uncut version of Heroes of Might and Magic V (the scene takes place in missions 2-3 for the demons): Two demons are standing there, and a devil approaches them. Devil: So, what do you think about our commanders? Demon 1: We haven't decided what decision to make regarding this yet, along with Pugg-Urb. Demon 2 (adjusting glasses, which were specifically drawn for this version): As far as we know, the esteemed Argyl has decided to disregard the disposition of our commander-in-chief, Kha-Beleth... Demon 1 demonstrates an attack animation. Demon 1: How could he dare make such an imprudent decision? Demon 2: We've learned that he did it because of his affection for the Griffin Empire's queen. Demon 1: Ah, so that's the reason. Does this mean that our esteemed Argyl will marry her, send her to some monastery, and we, along with the imperial forces, will go against the highly respected Kha-Beleth? Devil (interrupting both): Listen, stop arguing about who Argyl is and who Kha-Beleth is; he's with the lizard-like creature. We have a small army, and the imperial forces, elves, and other demons want us gone. And Argyl himself wants to send us away. What's there to think about? Demon 1 and Demon 2: Why are you interfering with intelligent people's discussions, you little one? You already have an opinion; go away! Regarding the army of peasant women: Well, Argyl is a queen, a demon is a peasant, and an archdevil is an archangel. To each their own!
