I wouldn't call myself a cynic; perhaps I was in the past, but now – I doubt it, although there's nothing shameful about it, of course. Maybe it's because I'm a writer, and I need to feel the subject matter, evaluate it both objectively and subjectively, criticize and assess it. Essentially, that's why I feel compelled to add irony and sarcasm where others might perceive it as excessive cynicism.
