[HMM III OFF TOURNAMENT] "Race for the Leader"

I have a question. The rules state:

Does this ban apply to the entire subsequent game, or only to the day the hero was killed? This is the first time I've encountered the AI killing my hero.
P.S.: Please don't post your IMHO, but answer those who know for sure.
