You're right about everything, but you're not taking one thing into account: the lady wants to attract attention to herself, to emphasize her uniqueness :) This is quite normal :) Or maybe it's not normal, but it happens very often in life :)
By the way, those who are privy to another side, those who are initiated into what is inaccessible to others, usually remain silent. They don't need to tell everyone they meet about it; what's the point? If other forces are aware of it. Moreover, these forces don't always like it when others talk about them ;)
