It's easy to buy 2 additional heroes if they are needed. Buying them provides a noticeable bonus right away – an army, and a little later – resource gathering. Also, they can carry artifacts found in the city and sell them if they are useless. Besides, you probably don't know about "chains" of troop transfers, which is why you don't buy additional heroes? Moreover, it's quite possible to buy Kifrah and level her up on a couple of chests until the "Gather Troops" skill is acquired. There's also Talannar, who can also appear in the Tavern.
Regarding whether they have enough time – yes, they do. They collect everything. And they scout. The main task of the main hero is only battles. That's why, since the Warlock doesn't have any particular problems with the speed of clearing neutral creatures, they level up quickly – because the main hero doesn't need to collect all sorts of junk.
