Katrine's experience in the beta is concerning: "And what if I clear the entire map in one turn using 20 gargoyles? Fireball, and that's it. And it's like that every time."
P.S. By the way, I'm also an economist... and the fact described by Katrine doesn't surprise me at all... there are many similar cases in economics where super-profits are spent wastefully and uselessly... I won't be surprised about 3DO either... it's all a matter of management - maybe they made unsuccessful investments that didn't pay off at all... And game development is such a risky business in general, where huge assets can disappear down the drain, and there is no return... So, gentlemen economists, that's life, and what has happened is a fact... 3DO had a normal profit, but they just couldn't manage it properly... Unlike Ubisoft - they bought the brand cheaply and are now making a lot of money from it (at our expense, by the way ;) ) - the question is only whether this will be a one-time profit or whether they will be able to extend the financial flows over time? I think (considering the current state of HOMM & Dark Messiah) it will be the former....
