The true cross is the one on which Jesus was crucified. According to one of the legends associated with the Holy Cross, it was made from the "tree of Jesse," the father of King David, the tree of life that grew in the Garden of Eden. The metaphor in this legend about Jesus's lineage from the house of David is clear. According to Christian tradition, Helena, the mother of Constantine, found the true cross hidden during her journey in the Holy Land.
Many churches still display relics of the true cross today. The truth of these claims cannot be substantiated.
