Which creatures from the alternative upgrade options do you choose?

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I think that Nival created a distinct style and balance for each faction. And alternative upgrades disrupt this style and balance. I'm not completely against it, but they should have at least made it possible to choose whether or not to use alternative upgrades.
