By the way, the "Deadly Strike" ability never seemed to work for me (or am I just imagining it?). This leads to a question: should it have any visual effects?

In the Russian version, the visual effect when the ability triggers is a pop-up message that says "Deadly Strike" (and a similar entry appears in the combat log), regardless of who the ability targets – whether it's "living" units, undead, elementals, or machines (in the latter case, the machine's HP is halved).
