Sometimes, you don't need much; one or two spells are enough to resolve the situation. It's pointless to hit ten demons with Earth Shock; lightning will suffice. It's like using a cannon to shoot at sparrows; you'll kill them, but you'll waste mana. It's better to conserve mana, which is also very important. Of course, at a high level, you can't upgrade much, but you can buy it all; the main thing is to have the money.
A Mage at a high level has so much mana (note that to upgrade skills, you need "Mana Attraction" and "Secret Knowledge") that there's no point in conserving it. For example, I've never managed to spend all of it, even in the final battle with Biara; there just aren't enough turns. As for buying experience:confused: ...let's talk about it in more detail.
