But that, Exz, is fundamentally wrong. It's a stereotype associated with emos, that they cry and/or cut themselves every half hour. Emos are just overly emotional people. They can allow themselves to have a real cry instead of a restrained male tear; they don't clench their teeth when everything in their life is falling apart; they just immediately express their emotions. They cry. But that doesn't mean they burst into tears over a broken nail or a dried-up pen, etc. And "cutting veins" – even they aren't capable of that. Only a person who has completely lost everything in life and cannot or does not want to fight to the end can cut their veins. Moreover, you need to have enough courage to calmly (even if trembling with fear) slash your wrist with a razor blade, and then sit and slowly feel your life draining away, your vision darkening, your wrist burning, and losing consciousness. Do you think emos are capable of that? No. It's just words. "I'll go to hell, sniff-sniff! I'll cut myself, die, and then we'll see how you'll feel!" and so on, it's... like in childhood. Like a child pouting and getting upset.
Emo is, in principle, not a lifestyle, but just an outward appearance. But you can wear bangs, badges, and not even know what "emo" means. Why everyone is so fixated on them – I don't know. Apparently, many losers who don't amount to much in life saw a crying emo and rejoiced – it turns out there's someone worse than them. And now they gloat and put down these people. P.S. By the way, many emo girls are very beautiful. Long black hair, heavy eye makeup... they resemble goths. And besides, girls, unlike guys, can calmly wear pink without the risk of being ridiculed about their orientation.
