All-encompassing magic because you get access to all magic without having to learn it, and each school has at least one useful spell. Plus, you get the opportunity to upgrade something useful instead of magic.
1) They don't give mass spells.
2) You won't have time to use them all.
3) And how much can you upgrade after level 23 (at least)???
I upgraded the Sorcery skill for a mage in the campaign (Tribes of the East), and I managed to reach level 34 (damn the limit). Of course, it didn't hinder me and even helped, but I used 5-6 spells, and the rest were never used because they lost all meaning due to the lack of "mass effect" or the presence of more powerful spells - for example, why is "Lightning" or "Ice Block" needed when there is "Earth Shock"? So, nothing outstanding:(
