Since we're talking about Zhelazny, he's a great author. "Night in the Lonely October" is a fantastic book. Amber is also good, but as the narrative shifts to Merlin, it becomes clear that 10 books is a bit too much, and the author has exhausted this idea.
Sheckley is also a very good author. I've read him before, but I only truly appreciated him recently after reading the short story collections "The Gun That Wouldn't Fire," "Pilgrimage to Earth," and the stories "Ticket to Trantor" and "Mind Swap." Locke, what stories did you recommend?
Andrzej Sapkowski is a very good writer. I still haven't been able to play "The Witcher" game, but just like the book had a great plot, the game doesn't disappoint either. I've seen some excerpts, and the plot there is also captivating. Sapkowski also wrote the "The Saga of Reinvan," which is also good.
I also love fantasy. I would recommend George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" to anyone interested in this genre; he writes very well.
I also recommend reading Mikhail Uspensky's "Where We Are Not," he's quite a humorist. It's also fantasy, by the way.
And of course, Terry Pratchett, he has a huge series of books about a certain flat world, and they are all written with excellent humor and are captivating.
