Regarding dragons, read the Dragonrealm book series by Richard A. Knaak; it describes dragons very well. Also, I would consider the Deep Dragon as the main one, and there's a race similar to orcs, with a pack of wolves and a deity called the Destroyer. There's a lot of overlap between the creatures and the hero, and even the Elves have a building that's similar. There's a lot of similar stuff there; ask if you need anything else.
