That’s why I’m saying that it’s a shame for the Necropolis if they don’t win (meaning they have inexperienced players).

As I understand it, the current “Fan Favorites in Battle” championship is a fan-made, unofficial event, just a relaxed way to play with your favorite faction. I find it enjoyable.
Also, check out the thread with reports on ranked games – usually, there are decent matches, with pairs like Rampart vs. Dungeon or Castle vs. Fortress.
I read about the official tournament that was held last fall, and even there, the matches often resulted in standard pairings.
