I performed terribly during the treasury raid. I went there with 40 mana and somehow managed to spend 12 (or however many) points on forgetfulness – it was a complete disaster. The "forgotten" arrows fired (a question about the mechanics that I still don't understand – how does forgetfulness work). When I reached the most valuable part, I had no mana left, so I had to just wait for a few days until I had at least five points to use for slowing down. It was a waste of time and troops. I found an air book and a Sword of Justice there. Chain Lightning killed an entire archer in one hit. But the opponent's troops, with their tactics and speed, turned out to be much stronger than magic.
