The phrase "borrowed from M&M" is absurd in itself, as Heroes and M&M are essentially the same – the same world.

Perhaps, but playing Heroes (at least parts 3 and 4) and not knowing M&M, it's almost impossible to guess that it's science fiction, not fantasy.
