I believe that God is an illusion. If people spent less time on beliefs, rituals, religions, and religious wars, we would have advanced much further in technology. The saddest thing is that people cannot live without gods. There will always be religion. People need to feel that someone powerful is watching over them, someone who won't abandon them in trouble. As one of the thinkers said, something like, "People need gods, otherwise they will go mad when they realize they are alone in the Universe"... that's how it is. Many people pray simply for comfort. And this is where the belief in an illusory something comes from.
I agree with every word. In short, people need to believe in something, whether it's themselves, God, or fate, it doesn't matter. In my opinion, religion is a relic of the past. In the past, when they couldn't explain the cause of a particular phenomenon, the meaning of life, or other scientific and philosophical questions, they invented God or gods, depending on the religion. My opinion is that if faith makes life easier for even one person, then religion has the right to exist.
