Light or Darkness?

Darkness. Undoubtedly. But not the kind of darkness mentioned above. Rather, it's a calming and infinite darkness... The question itself is not quite right. Light is not necessarily good, and darkness is not necessarily evil. Light can also cause pain and suffering. So why is it considered good?
