Yes, the secret crystal trick is a fun spell. Try casting it on Anven in a duel, then quickly leave. It's beautiful to see 4 or 5 crystals standing on the field at once.

You say it's good against archers, but what if friendly troops are standing close to them on all sides? The crystal will still be placed, but not in front of the archers, but in front of their defenders.
