How many factions are there?

Well, some very smart and capable people managed to create a lot of castles in different games of the series, and everyone is happy with it. In my opinion, the most important thing is originality. This is what prevents our lives from turning into a dull, gray routine (it's a somewhat random comparison, but whatever).
