Yes, they are very, very powerful, but in this case, speed is the determining factor! For this reason, I don't like Golems in my favorite Fortress... they are quite powerful, and magic hardly affects them, but they are SLOW... All the action takes place on the front lines, and while these, pardon me, slowpokes (I don't mean to offend, it's just hard to find another word) get there... And they also slow down movement on the map...
