Guys, I need help with something for school!

Well, this is just my humble opinion as a historian... :D Of course, it could have been avoided, just like it could have been avoided by all the other powers. This is theoretically possible. But in practice, it was impossible... When, on one hand, a brazen and self-confident Germany desires, at a minimum, European (and at most, world) domination, and on the other hand, England and France, frightened by this (because they have colonies), try with all their might to divert the aggression away from themselves and towards the East, i.e., towards Russia. And another provocation leads to war.
