Is it logical not to see a difference between a character in service (which, depending on the lord's personality type, is even worse than being a commoner, because the character is a public figure who directly affects the prestige of the one they serve), especially with an inherently provocative background, and a ruler backed by the infrastructure of an entire region and a heap of loyal spies and assassins? In my opinion, there isn't a hint of that logic here. Moreover, all these points have already been discussed by me and Nebo.
