In fact, the avatar settings on this forum haven't changed for decades. But strangely enough, even modern recommendations for avatars haven't changed much. Yes, 32KB may be too conservative, but here we are talking about scaling the space that needs to be reserved for potential avatars; 32kb * 50k accounts is already 1.5 GB. If we increase this, for example, and set it to 1 MB, then the total maximum storage required for them will be 47.6 GB.

Modern engines solve this by allowing you to upload a larger volume, but then automatically compress and scale the uploaded content, i.e., a reduced copy is stored. The current engine from 2005 (or whatever year) cannot do this, and we won't modify it for this anymore; it's nearing its end. Optimally, now you can increase it to, for example, 100 KB, which turns out to be somewhere around 4.5-5 GB of reserve for all current accounts.

Regarding messages, there was a limit of 16,000. If 10-11 messages were needed, then that’s 160,000+ characters, which is an unrealistic limit that probably doesn't exist anywhere else.
I looked at the messages themselves, and many HTML styles have been copied into them, which greatly increases the consumption of the character limit, and they are also dead styles.

I managed to combine all the messages into one with a limit of 65,000, but in clean HTML. This will probably be one of the largest limits among modern applications and engines right now. As a rule, only a couple of thousand use such a restriction.

According to statistics on this forum, 97% < 2000 characters.
If we take a 16,000 limit, it covers 99.9% of messages on the forum.

Probably, for huge changelogs, it is better to simply use a text file as an attachment or do we need a Wikipedia where there will be large articles?
