Guys, I need help with something for school!

The war was an aggressive one on both sides. The main reason for it was the disagreements between two alliances: the Entente (England, France, Russia) and the Triple Alliance (Germany, Austria-Hungary, and... it seems, Turkey). If we set aside the historical conflicts between the countries and talk only about Russia, then we, in turn, wanted to maintain political influence in the Balkans (which was threatened by Austria-Hungary, preparing to seize Serbia), and we dreamed of capturing the straits and Constantinople (this was simply a fixed idea of Russia at that time; I think we had a grudge against the Turks more than once). When Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia, Russia, in turn, announced a general mobilization and declared war on Austria-Hungary. Hmm... drawing conclusions from what has been said. Russia might have avoided the war if it hadn't been so eager to participate. They could have ignored Serbia and the straits and Constantinople. They should have tried to resolve the issues within the country, which, as I think everyone knows, were far from ideal. Perhaps Russia would have suffered from withdrawing from the Entente (I can't say for sure because I'm not a great historian), but the country was absolutely not ready for war for many reasons. However, we really disgraced ourselves in the First World War. So, we shouldn't have stuck our noses in it, IMHO. But... we are Russians.)
