If there were no photo proofs of elven qualities, it’s unlikely. But being rejected by someone who is considered “lower” than an elf is quite possible. If you don’t measure up to the elf’s standards, you need to compensate with something: money, charisma, the ability to communicate, shared interests, etc. Once, a mother’s friend’s son was rejected because he wasn’t a musician. If he had been a true elf or a musician, that wouldn’t have happened. An elf can only ruin things if they do absolutely nothing, simply ignoring and avoiding everyone.
