You could also do it like my husband — went to study for free at a university to become a physics and computer science teacher (by the way, they also teach computer science at technical colleges). He got hired for his first job as an IT guy with minimal knowledge based on the principle of "well, you know your way around computers and programs, so you'll figure it out"

Or you could do it like an artist friend of mine, who studied at a technical college to become a graphic designer (or something like that, I don't remember exactly), then spent a couple of years slaving away for pennies at an animation studio in Voronezh, while simultaneously drawing commissioned art on a tablet (not infrequently porn or furry porn art). He built up his portfolio, moved first to St. Petersburg, then abroad. Now he works as a designer at a foreign game company for 300k+ (though, probably even more, since we haven't talked in a long time). I don't know exactly what he does now, but for example, I clearly remember that he drew character, item, and furniture models for Pathfinder and its expansions. But that's not IT anymore, and it's probably the only success story among my acquaintances.
