I thought it was just a hyped-up fun little game, but it turned out to be a genuine modern masterpiece.
- SCARY. I got goosebumps on a regular basis — the atmosphere is conveyed so vividly: the setting, the imagery, the story, and the sound/camera work are all top-notch.
- You're constantly doing something new; the game never stops surprising you, both in terms of gameplay and story.
- The puzzles are perfectly balanced — you do have to think sometimes, but you never get stuck without a way to progress.
- An adorable heroine — she immediately wins you over and helps you immerse yourself in the story.
- A cool contrast between the cozy vibes and the horror.
- Based on my experience, it's a unique game unlike anything else.

yakuza gaiden
Top tier. More intimate and shorter than usual (though still long if you get sucked into the side content), while being darker than the previous entries, feeling more dynamic, with plenty of tasty legacy moments, a lively brawler combat system, finally a cool outfit customization, and overall very, very stylish; the story, despite the segment that seemed sparse on events by that point, is very brisk.
yakuza 8
There's just a ton of side content, almost all of it quite engaging, and it doesn't feel like side quests but like separate spin-offs. You could drown in the legacy content — anyone who skipped all the other entries will probably lose a significant chunk of it in terms of appreciation, though maybe it still works out fine, but for a fan it's a treat you never even dreamed of.
The main story felt a bit thinner than in 7, but it's perfectly decent, and maybe it only feels that way due to the sheer scale — it took a considerable amount of time to complete, there are also many mini-stories, quite varied in what they belong to, so the overall picture gets a bit blurred. Overall, I really liked this approach.
