Hmm, I see... I got my first computer around 2006, before that, I only had pirated Sega consoles...

Well, that's a classic situation. From my experience, and the experience of those who were there, the most memorable thing was the complete lack of care for the discs - they were used to stepping on cartridges their whole lives, which would still work even when completely worn out, and they just carelessly threw the discs around, so they all ended up scratched and half of them wouldn't even spin anymore.
