Re-uploaded the campaign file, this time the changes affected the second mission:
1) The starting location has been slightly improved.
2) After death, only one Necromancer hero returns to the tavern, and only a limited number of times.
3) The moment of betrayal now comes later.
4) The armies placed in garrisons at key story moments have been significantly reduced.
Hi, I couldn't get past the second part in the previous version, something was broken there — even at the start I was given two sawmills but no ore mine) I didn't download the latest version; I downloaded the version from that quote. Overall everything became good, still tough, but doable. Let me mention a few moments from the playthrough that aren't quite clear to me.
1. Let me start with the heroes in the crypts. When I cleared the second crypt near the starting castle (where the undead gear is), a message appeared saying the curse was lifted, but the quest didn't complete and the debuffs didn't disappear. (Well, whatever, but still). I didn't touch the 3rd and 4th ones — the armies there are huge, I'd have to sweat hard and most likely lose 90-95% of my army.
2. I didn't kill the mage stacks at all, even when I already had an army — there was no point. First of all, I'd lose a solid chunk of my army anyway, and the artifacts they guarded were useless. I'd also like to note that there are 7 or 8 huge stacks on the map guarding junk, like 2 legions of Emerald Dragons, a legion of Titans, and similar. Why such stacks?
3. I never understood the point of the passage quest where you need to find a key in one of the pyramids on the water. What's it for? You can just go around from the other side through the garrison. And you can't get into those pyramids by any means.
4. Is Zoltan's spam supposed to be like that? I killed him 3 times, and he reappeared the turn after his death with an army 10-15% bigger.
The first heroes and the first Zoltan were tough, I had to sweat quite a bit, but then it got easy once I had 120 Liches and 300 Ghosts — overall, I cleared almost the whole map with just those two units. Then when I killed the 3rd spawn, there were no more undead heroes, I went and took all the castles again, clearing the remaining neutral stacks along the way, saved up 400 Liches, 1200 Ghosts, 200 Death Knights, etc., and went for the last 3rd castle without entering the garrison in the center of the map — I assumed there was an entrance to the underground there and I'd have to fight the demon (the red player), but I was wrong)
You really surprised me with the ending, when you go as Sigriv against a buffed-up Markal wearing my gear. Honestly, I've paused the playthrough for now — at the moment I have 0 ideas on how to kill him in my gear. On top of that, he even has Puppet Master, even though when I played as him I didn't have it. So far only one thought came to mind — load the save before the castle and take off all the gear and give it to another hero or sell it. Maybe you can suggest what to do with him? There's no counter to Puppet Master. If it were living creatures, I could somehow handle it with Vampires, but here there's no chance. There are 500 Liches with a bow)) Chaos magic, like Sigriv's basic abilities, deals peanuts of damage with Spellpower 33. Markal also has 40% magic resistance by the way)) In the dragon pyramid I took the Dragon Helm and Boots of the Gnome, and also got the Ring, Mantle, and Dragon Armor. That won't help me either. I decided not to kill the elementals — I'd lose 30% of my army, the pendant isn't worth it. And behind the artifact shops there was weak loot (I went through to take a look and decided they weren't worth killing). I earned 250k gold on my way to dry land — as I understood, the gold was given for the mentor so I could respec, but I didn't, and I think respec wouldn't change anything in this case anyway. They gave 500 Sulfur, unclear why. Markal, by the way, immediately runs at you, so I don't even have time to collect perks around the map. And maybe the remaining gear I didn't pick up earlier)
Hero difficulty of course) but I liked the map👍🏻
by the way, the cloak that ignores immunity, which I was given at the start, or maybe after the first crypt — just sat unused the whole game, I never found any use for it. If I had Puppet Master, I could farm big stacks and mages with it, but that's a so-so idea honestly)
yes, I remember there's a library south of the southern cape, but I just never got there — maybe Puppet Master or Frenzy was there, but it wasn't on my way, I already wanted to finish as fast as possible once I killed the main heroes, and before that moment I'd most likely have been buried there)) and besides, a legion of Titans guards it, so who needs that)
