Devlog #9: Connecting Roots of the Whispering Grove
Mystical and fairytale-like forest cities have always been an integral part of "Heroes of Might and Magic," appearing in every game except "Heroes 6." However, in each part, they were presented differently. Thus, in "Heroes 1" and "Heroes 2," there was the magical, fairytale city of the Sorceress, in "Heroes 3" — the mystical Rampart and the elemental haven, Conflux. In "Heroes 4," the Preserve appeared, where both mythical and real animals lived, and in the world of Ashan, the main force of the Forest Alliance is the forest elves.Full text: https://steamcommunity.com/games/310...09885443867168
So, it can be said that in each game, the connection with nature is shown in its own way. In Olden Era, we decided to combine two motifs of the Sorceress city from "Heroes 2" — the fairytale and the elemental — into the Grove faction, bringing it closer to its original incarnation before the division that occurred in "Heroes 3." The reunification of the forest and elemental motifs in one city gave us a unique opportunity to rethink the four elements and embody them in forms closer to the original image of the Sorceress city. To do this, we turned to less popular mythologies, drawing inspiration from them when creating the Iriad and Aqualotl.
Combining the power of nature and the grandeur of the elements, the descendants of the Sorceress faction came and went like the tides and changed like the seasons, embodying different facets of the living world. However, they always remained, in one way or another, a city of the Forest, in which nature and mysticism prevailed.
