I remember there was a Physique module in 3ds Max. It was a very complex tool designed for animation. I never managed to master it. There's a simpler one – morphing, which is for facial animation, but in principle, you can also create other simple animations. I got a little familiar with Bones. There's still a lot more – dynamics, kinematics, shaders, and a whole bunch of other complexities.
