I assume that the Discord server mainly consists of fans. Honestly, I don't really understand all the hype and enthusiasm surrounding the project. Yes, they're reviving the Heroes series, which is cool, but are people really so desperate that even this is a huge hit?
The fans of the third game are definitely out. They'll keep collecting dust until they disappear completely, rather than switching to another game. When they found out about the initiative regarding turn order for units, they mumbled something and slammed the door shut. So, relying on them and the fans of the second game is not an option at all. Those who are developing the game (the second and third installments) are simply interested in it, they're involved, and they're getting paid. That leaves the fifth game and everything else. The situation with the fifth game is roughly the same. That leaves everyone else and the younger generation. It's on them that we should focus, rather than on the dinosaurs.
Mobile gaming has long been at the forefront. If a developer of an old game makes an excellent port, they'll at least make a lot of money from those who like to play on the go. Of course, hoping that the game will become a tactical Dota, League of Legends, etc., in the world of esports is appealing, but whether the developer can pull it off, time will tell.
