I understand. But they could have chosen a consistent art style for the portraits/icons to match the overall visual style. The portraits look one way, but the adventure map and battle icons look completely different, as if they were taken from another game.

Yes, that's true... but personally, I would prefer it to be like it was originally in Heroes of Might and Magic III and IV (and then immediately in Heroes of Might and Magic VI and VII) - a class- and gender-specific visual style on the map, rather than like in Heroes of Might and Magic V, where all characters have a male model!

However, if the developers put in the effort and create a unique visual style for all characters right away, that would be amazing!
