After three days of despair, it seems like nothing can be done, and you just want to give up and abandon everything for an indefinite period...

Of course, such incidents can be quite demotivating and have a lasting effect. When I edit scenarios, even after completing small-scale tasks, I make backup copies on two external storage devices, as I have also lost scenario files several times.
