Well, you can use all level 5 weapons, all bonuses, and all skill slots. The AI now chooses heroes in a regular game from any option within the faction, not just two. There are two downsides: you still can't choose a pet in a regular game, and, most importantly, most of the story heroes are gone for regular gameplay. For example, I used to love playing as Sandro... now he's not available. It's debatable: you can start any stage of the campaign... but it's pointless because without going through it in order, the heroes will be level 1.
