There's a tachyon field generator, and as long as the ship is in the tachyon field bubble, it can easily travel faster than the speed of light. But no warp drives like in Star Trek or hyperspace like in Battlestar Galactica/Babylon 5. I don't remember encountering such an explanation for FTL; I came up with it myself.
