If you spend all your free time on just one thing, you'll eventually go crazy. For example, if you only watch anime/TV shows all the time, you'll eventually start watching everything on autopilot, including regurgitated garbage that you wouldn't have watched otherwise, but all the good stuff has already been watched. The same can happen with games, or another scenario – you'll get so obsessed with one game that it will start to annoy you at some point.
Theoretically, this is possible, but empirically, the opposite happens: a person develops an elite taste in their chosen field, so that they wouldn't even think of touching this trash. An extreme example of this is that they might develop impotence and won't be able to continue doing it at all – but even here, the answer is simpler than it seems. "Impotence" simply means a lack of desire to spend time and energy on worthless garbage, and its amount is growing geometrically in our modern age, so this logical chain, although popular in the realm of ideas, is actually false. Therefore, a person will either have to watch/read/play "old favorites," occasionally enjoying some randomly discovered modern masterpiece (or at least something that isn't complete garbage), or devote the freed-up time to another area of expertise. Or, if they are given neuroleptics, there is an extreme option – to go to work.
