-- Even when I was wandering, I heard strange stories about a powerful sage or sorcerer who granted wishes, but always at a price. And if someone asked him a question instead of making a wish, they would receive an answer, but they would lose their valuable abilities, a part of their mind that was responsible for them. So yes, troubles do happen, but it's still quite rare.
Alaria considered sharing her experience of meeting a similar "sage" from her own world, but decided that now was not the time or place for such a dialogue. Perhaps, sometime later. There was a good chance that the entities from Erefir and Alfard's stories were manifestations of the same will, using new guises for each of the worlds they visited. Or perhaps such types were simply a constant in the worlds, another confirmation of the law of convergence and divergence.

-- So, what is volunteering? Tell me, please.
— Voluntary and unpaid work for a good cause. It can take many different forms, depending on the person's profile. People in your profession were also listed, if you are interested. In my case, it's roughly the same as what I do back home. In general, nothing special. I just cook food for the sick. It's a trivial thing compared to the selfless efforts of the hospital staff. But it's still a way to brighten the days of the unfortunate patients and speed up their recovery.
