Beata, returning from the kitchen with fresh rolls from "Lepota," watched Alaria and Erefir, their faces inscrutable as they hurried off towards the latter's room. She shrugged nonchalantly and approached Guion, who was lounging on the sofa, thoughtfully flipping through his journal.
"What are they up to?" he asked, accepting a roll from his partner.
"I have no idea," she shrugged, settling onto the same sofa. "But if it had anything to do with our mission, I think they would have told us."
"Yeah... Erefir isn't the type to hide important things," Guion grunted, taking a generous bite of the roll. "Fafarno, o foem, o defifem - furfiry, koffa..."
"…rather, about something of their own, otherworldly," Beata murmured almost inaudibly, glancing at Miss Cosmos's painting.
"Hmm-mm-m?" Guion mumbled thoughtfully with a full mouth.
Having quickly finished his roll, he asked Beata just as quietly:
"Do you think Alaria is also... one of them?"
"Mhm. Remember, we saw her in the church after that mandate. As well as the boss. And those green eyes, I've never seen anyone with eyes like that before."
"Well, eyes aren't necessarily an indicator..."
"I agree. But she never said where she's from. She never talked about her homeland in front of us. Most likely, she's really one of them. Maybe even from the same place as the boss, who knows what Rynze is up to."
"Yeah... It makes you wonder who in Carneole isn't one of them."
"You, me, Kilika, Astellia. I also think Garrett is one of them. And Merel was probably one of them too."
"Well, that's quite a group."
"It is what it is... You know, after the Rynze incident, I thought that only evil could come from other worlds. But now... I'm not so sure. After everything we've been through together, after their eagerness to save the world from Despair..."
"I agree. I think they're just people. Just like us. We could have become aliens in another world if some mage or celestial being had taken us there."
"That makes sense... I wonder what that world would be like? Probably, everyone would ride around in iron self-propelled carriages, live in big houses, like the Hearth, only bigger and not as beautiful, and everyone would have magical boxes that they could use to communicate with each other, and there would also be a camera and access to a library!"
"Beata, where do you even get these ideas?"
"I don't know. But it sounds cool, don't you think?"
"...maybe."
