From the very beginning, Cold Resistance was presented as an unreliable immunity. Evgeny warned about this from the first posts, simply limiting himself to the most mundane reasons in his warnings. No one promised a permanent immunity to mind control that doesn't take up a slot and costs 300 resources. If you wanted immunity for 300 resources, you got it.

The point is that this is a cursed painting by Rinze (personally or through priests, which is essentially the same). There are other paintings with her on them that don't have these effects (see Amamus's vault).
