- I don't fight harpies or participate in arena battles, I don't get involved in revolutions, and I don't shoot down airships. And yet, I witnessed nine... no, eleven murders committed by Victor Loss, and I almost became the twelfth victim. And then I was almost executed on suspicion of those same murders. I found your box, which almost led to the death of myself, an old man, and some random people – at least, I'd like to think that's not how it will end. I helped the old man with a problem he couldn't solve for years, but the final solution to it might very well lead to my death. I... am in the middle of another case that has every chance of leading to my destruction, but I can't do otherwise, because that's my path. That's what I've been asked about. As for the good things, I've met many interesting people, and surprisingly, some of them are capable of showing kindness. This is new to me, because I've never believed in people, and I haven't seen any interest in them. Perhaps this balances out the hardships, because something like this seems quite valuable to me, unlike more mundane things. It's nice to see that your actions help someone and are even positively appreciated when you don't expect it at all. It gives you the feeling that all of this wasn't in vain, and after yet another upheaval of the world due to a global cataclysm, something of you will remain in people's minds and hearts, and not just a handful of ashes.
- So, what did these harpies do to you? - The Lord was a little surprised by his companion's unusual fixation. - They are just low-level monsters that live in the mountains, far from cities. If you want, while we're in Mittene, I can find a couple for you. It's a mountain town, so you won't have to look far. We can make a necklace out of their feathers or something like that. But speaking of interesting people, it's quite unusual that you know a foul-mouthed rabbit; you both give me a completely different impression. Oh, and by the way, you might not believe me at this stage of the game, but I didn't intend to do anything bad to her. The plan was to forcibly relocate her to another place.
