Gideon doesn't know when the mother will return, so she could come back at any moment – looting the nest right now is simply dangerous and possibly pointless.
Gideon understands that both he and Nysha are melee fighters, there's no healer in the party, and their chances against a bird of this size are vanishingly small.
Gideon has tired his legs out and wants to rest a bit.
Gideon pulls Nysha away from the nest so that the mother can't see or somehow sense him, but they would notice her return – perhaps they'll have to move back a few squares, remembering that neither of them can stealth. Hiding under a rock or bush so they can't be seen from above, they rest until their strength is restored or the mother returns, but no more than an hour.
- Nysha, do you think it's worth checking what's in the nest when/if the mother bird flies away again? I saw some kind of glimmer there; it could be magic stones or even potions. But I think our safety should be the priority.
