"Baldur's Memorial: Continuation
After recent events, and my own training, I realized that in my eagerness to describe the history, I failed to describe the nuances of the "Gungnir von Brekkendorf School." The concept itself consists of unification with the aspects of the world around us, of which, according to the school's system, there are eight: metal, fire, water, air, wood, sun, moon, and stars. It is hard not to notice certain similarities with other similar concepts, such as the meridian theory, but one should not ignore the nuances unique to the school.
The Path of Calentia
Also known as the path of metal. Also the path of the warrior who strives to become one with their weapon. When this warrior masters the technique of the foundation of creation, their skin will become like armor. Conversely, the corrosion technique will render the weapons and armor of their opponents useless. The blood tax, meanwhile, will sustain life in this warrior as long as they spill the blood of their enemies. If my suspicions are correct, I recently happened to see such a warrior in action.
The Path of Eir
Also known as the path of the primordial flame. The path that I have chosen. In my thoughts, I have more than once drawn parallels with the techniques of my homeland, which differ by being slightly more flexible but having less potential. The Path of Eir does not allow for healing wounds with curative fire, at least not yet. On the contrary—the flame of this style is so destructive that it will prevent the opponent from ever recovering from the wounds received.
The Path of Reynold and Ilva
This consists not of a strange relationship dynamic, as the name might suggest, but of unification with the sea element in its most diverse incarnations. A warrior following this path can become like a raging storm, sweeping away everything in its path. Or master the harmony of water, protecting themselves from harm and washing their own wounds. Again, it is hard to resist certain associations, but this time due to the name of one of the techniques—ataraxia. Once, thanks to Elrina's generosity, I happened to taste a fruit with a similar name, which gave me strength and, according to Magnolia's promises, extended my life. Normally I wouldn't believe such things, but I really have gained strength since then. Even the whip scars received in my homeland, the brand of my "shame", have magically healed. I am still not sure how I feel about this. It seems good that I can show my back without fearing awkward questions, yet it feels as if I have lost a part of my history in this way.
The Path of Veserod
The path of the unyielding wind. The path of freedom. A path for those who move boldly forward, regardless of hardships, and never lose confidence in themselves. It is hard not to note the irony that practitioners of this style are able to deflect arrows flying at them, while it was an arrow that cut short Veserod's path. Apparently, the founder's sentimentality played a role. Dreams that everything could have been completely different.
The Path of Anders
The path of the log. I'm joking, of course. I've heard that in some lands there are stories about a wise cat who chose an oak as its dwelling. Likely, the name comes from this. And the comparison of Anders to an oak. Alright, now seriously. The path will appeal to mighty and steadfast warriors who dream of either putting armies to flight or defeating hordes of enemies in one or two strikes.
The Path of Gulveig and Alessia
The path of the sun. The path of those who serve as a source of light and warmth for the people in their lives, leading them and inspiring them to great deeds. Presumably, it also helps in making money. I believe it is a choice for those who dream of one day becoming like the heroes of the past and founding their own kingdom. However, for a warrior focused on their own mastery, as it seemed to me, it holds little interest.
The Path of Ryohe
The path of the moon. The path of darkness. The path of shadow. Probably one of the deadliest styles of the school, but also one of the most difficult to master. It is surpassed in this regard only by the next path.
The Path of Anselm and Ilva
The path of the stars. The path of understanding the cosmos. The path of wisdom. One of the most difficult paths and, truth be told, it's not hard to understand why. Those who become like a star learn to read the intentions of their opponents and anticipate their actions. They cannot be deceived by lying speeches or deceptive maneuvers. They are always one step ahead of their opponents, whether in sword fights or games of the mind. But it is not within the power of everyone. Surely many overly ambitious students tried to master this path, only to give up and take up another craft. Perhaps, if not for my kinship with the fire element, I would have tried my luck too. But I already knew my choice in advance, and I didn't need omniscience for that."
I think it's 14, if I'm not mistaken about where and what counts as entries. I thought about making this post before, but kept putting it off.
