“So, what did you bring?” Beata twirled a strange-looking rubber thing in her hands.
“They told me this is called ‘slippers’,” Gion shrugged, “the cheapest footwear I could find. I got a pair for myself too,” he lifted the hem of his fashionable trousers, showcasing bright pink slippers with butterflies in all their glory.
“They perfectly complement your outfit, emphasizing your overall sophistication,” Beata said with a very serious expression.
“You yourself said we should hold off on spending money, and with the five rems we found on the road, we can’t go too wild!”
“But that doesn’t mean we have to look like idiots! We are, after all, concealing our true nature!”
“It’s better this way than going barefoot… Unlike the dress, footwear made from curtains isn’t ideal. By the way, I need to request a budget for new ones…”
“And what, am I supposed to stay at home? I only have a cloak and underwear left. At least with this, I can make it to ‘Pam-Param’,” Beata twirled in the crookedly sewn dress, which had come slightly undone at the seams from the movement.
“And after one pastry, it will be difficult to get back,” Gion commented, nodding at the unraveling seam.
“What? Where?!” Beata also noticed the disaster. “Damn it! Where is that damn needle?!”
Stuffing her feet into the hideous “slippers,” she began to rush around the room.
