Sitting in his cell all day, Merell wondered whether he would be fired and replaced, or not. But most of the time, he thought about the local authorities and guards, who, it seemed, were not in a hurry to inform their superiors about various clean-up operations and special missions before starting them. In my opinion, that shouldn't be the case; at least, in a city under Merell's leadership, such things would be suppressed, because only one person should give orders and be aware of the events taking place in his city. However, a city that is too large would take up too much energy, leaving no free time for science and other matters, but a smaller town would be just right. And preferably not in the center, where there is a lot of traffic of all kinds, but on the outskirts, where senators and other representatives of the authorities do not particularly like to come. Maybe a small corner in a dark and dense forest... Or even in a swamp? I'm not talking about St. Petersburg.
