The captain's abrupt order to change course caught us off guard in the middle of the night. No one was chasing us, but the captain was clearly worried about something. We sailed to the port of Tortuga, where, upon arrival, we received an even stranger order – to recruit as many people as possible, taking in anyone who wanted to join. And so we did!
No one had any illusions about the quality of the recruits with this approach, but even I didn't expect to see such a motley crew on board. There was a bit of everything: outright scoundrels and villains, femme fatales, former officials, and white-collar workers. There was even a cunning parrot, who, judging by its gaze, was clearly plotting something. Among the recruits, there was even one person who claimed to be from another planet. Upon hearing this, another recruit began to shout hysterically, "Give me back my goat!" Some went even further and tried to bring a huge live lizard onto the ship (I don't know where they dug it up), but, coming to their senses, they abandoned this foolish idea.What awaits us with such a crew is anyone's guess. I hope the captain knows what he's doing...
